Chemical Peels

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a treatment in which a corrosive agent is used to remove the damaged external layers of the skin. In performing chemicals peels, alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), retinol based peels, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or phenol are applied to the skin.

A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing technique in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to peel/remove the top layers. The lower layers of skin grow to come back after a chemical peel which gives smoother and more youthful looking skin.

Chemical peels are used to treat fine wrinkles, skin pigmentation and scars — commonly found on the face. A chemical peel can be used alone or in the blend with other cosmetic procedures to give facial skin that you will love.

Am I candidate for a chemical peel?

How is a chemical peel procedure performed?

Your treatment will be performed by an authorized skincare professional in your plastic surgeon's clinic. Peels include the utilization of a chemical solution for your whole face or just too specific locales where you feel the problem

After cleansing the face, the areas which are highly sensitive like below lower eyelids, angle of mouth, sides of alar of nose are applied with emollient like petroleum jelly. Then the chemical solution is applied softly or rubbed gently using soft gauge, brush, swab or cotton buds.

During peel application, you may encounter a slight tingling sensation (light to medium peels) or a smoldering sensation (deep peels). These sensations are typically insignificant for light and medium peels yet are more extreme for deep peels. The time span for which the solution is permitted to work is controlled by carefully observing the changes in the appearance of your skin. With specific sorts of chemical peels, the solution might be "neutralized" after a suitable amount of time has passed. Certain peels need to stay for longer period on face to 6-8 hours depending upon condition of skin and tolerability of the patient.

The diverse sorts of chemical peels differ as indicated by their specific ingredients and their quality. The profundity of their peeling action may likewise be determined by factors, for example, to what extent they stay on the skin and how they are applied onto the skin.
