Age spots and freckles are the results of an additional skin pigmentation called "melanin." As we age, extensive brown patches on areas of skin that are exposed to the sun start to appear.
Pigmented spots are shaded spots or patches on the skin brought on by increased production of melanin, the dull color in the skin (sun spots, age spots, spots, uneven skin tone). Some are present at birth while others appear on exposure to the sun or came with age. Many people need smooth, clear young looking skin, tragically get sun damage. Age spots happen with age and sometimes also called liver spots. The ones which are present at birth are called birthmarks.
Freckles are the fine numerous spots present on the face due to sun exposure. Sometimes it could be hereditary or may be just a body tendency. These are sometimes confused with moles. These freckles are more superficial whereas moles are more deeper.
